Frequently Asked Questions
Is PF registration mandatory for my business?
Yes, once you employ 20 or more persons. Establishments with fewer employees can register voluntarily, which helps with hiring and government tenders.
Which employees must be covered?
Employees with Basic + DA up to ₹25,000 per month (from 17 September 2026) must be enrolled. Employees earning more can join voluntarily.
How long does PF registration take?
Usually a few working days after complete documents and the employer's digital signature or Aadhaar e-sign are available.
Do companies need a separate PF registration?
Companies incorporated through SPICe+ receive an EPFO code at incorporation. The employer login still has to be activated and set up before filing ECRs.
